Hello.  I’m Stephen Prescott.  I am a jewelry designer and silversmith in New York.  It took a while for me to get to do what I am doing as I studied Business and Marketing and worked on Madison Avenue for years, selling everything from Cream of Wheat to Tide Laundry soap!  In my off time, I took classes in all sorts of creative expression, and zeroed in on Metal work, as I found it fascinating that I could take an idea, and make it into something beautiful and permanent that would delight others.  I studies At Parsons school of Design and School of Visual Arts, both in New York.  After much thought, I decided to go in to metalsmithing and jewelry design full time, starting out in the workshop of renowned jeweler, Robert Lee Morris, fabricating his designs, which were sold globally.  While it was a wonderful job and a great experience, I found that after a while, I was missing creating for myself.  Hence, Stephen Prescott, the company, was born.

I began slowly, but was able to eventually get my work into major department stores and boutiques nationwide, but still something was missing.  I wanted to do more for others.  So at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic in New York, I designed a Sterling Silver ribbon based the red ribbon I had seen at the Tony Awards.  I went to AmFAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research and said I would sell them, with their help, and give them all of the profit.  It turned out to be an extremely successful project, as Kenneth Cole was on their board of Directors, and it was put into his catalogs and stores nationally.

Fast forward twenty something years, and I’m still at it.  Only now my charity of choice is homeless animals.  As you peruse my collections, you will notice that my “signature” clasp is a dog bone toggle.  I developed this a few years ago, as I was working on a collection and lost my precious Springer Spaniel, Tazzie, and wanted to find a way to honor her.  When I showed it to a few friends, they all wanted one, and it quickly became my signature!  As a matter of fact, I developed a whole separate collection just around the clasp and it is featured on my sister site called MansBestFriendshipBracelet.  All of the profit from the sales of these pieces is donated to Broadway Barks, which in turn distributes to animal shelters and rescues nationwide.  Be sure to check that out as well.  There’s even a link to it on all pages.

I hope I have created that perfect piece for you as well.  I hope you enjoy the site, and happy shopping!
